Humans have relied on dairy foods for 11,000 years

Milk and dairy products contain calcium, which is important for healthy bones and teeth. Milk should always be pasteurised before use, as raw milk may contain dangerous bacteria and cause illness. Products based on milk powder are better avoided, as they lack many of the important elements found in whole milk.

Yogurt contains important microorganisms that promote digestion.

In comparison with other countries of the former Soviet Union, Belarus ranks highest in terms of milk production.
