One of the best and most environmentally friendly ways to process plant waste is to compost it.
Compost is made by leaving organic matter to decompose with the aid of bacteria, fungi and other microorganisms that contribute to the fermentation process. This process takes place at an elevated temperature and in conditions of high humidity, and the resulting compost makes an excellent soil fertiliser. Compost can be used in small gardens or for large-scale agricultural production.
