Shepherd's-purse is an annual species with an upright stalk that grows up to 50 centimetres tall. Its lobed leaves grow from a rosette at the base of the stem. The flowers are small and white and grouped in clusters. The triangular, purse-like pods, from which it gets its name, split open when ripe. It flowers from March to May.
Shepherd's-purse grows throughout Belarus on wasteland and verges and in gardens. It is a very common and widespread species.
