Blue tit

Parus caeruleus

Description:
About 11 centimetres long, this small tit has a black eye stripe and blue cap, yellow underparts with a narrow greyish-black central stripe on its belly, bluish wings and an olive-green back.

Habitat:
The blue tit is a non-migratory bird and can be found in woodland, parks and gardens throughout Europe, with the exception of the far north.

Habits:
The blue tit hangs upside-down when feeding from nut-holders or birch twigs. It is often seen on bird tables in winter, and feeds on insects and seeds. It nests in holes or nesting boxes.
