Sun safety

Protect yourself from sunburn and sunstroke

When spending time outdoors in the summer, take some simple precautions:

  • Wear a scarf, hat and sunglasses to protect yourself from the sun.
  • Use good-quality high-factor sun creams to give protection from ultraviolet radiation.
  • Do not expose children less than one year old to direct sunlight, especially at midday.

Remember to use sunscreen or other protection whenever you are outside in the sun.

Read the factsheet on sunlight and health risks and complete the questionnaire to find out the dangers of prolonged exposure to direct sunlight.
